Suji Kim is a postdoctoral associate within the Center for Integrated Solutions for Infectious Diseases (CISID) at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Joining the Hwang Lab in March 2024, her research is centered on unraveling the mechanism of immune dysfunction in sepsis.
During her doctoral studies at the Infectious Diseases Lab in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Seoul National University, Dr. Kim delved into host-pathogen interactions, with a primary focus on nontuberculous mycobacteria. Her investigations extended to exploring host immune mechanisms in response to infections caused by respiratory pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. Dr. Kim dedicated her research efforts to understanding the host immune response to pathogenic microorganisms, especially in the context of zoonotic infectious diseases.
Dr. Kim’s overarching research vision aims to elucidate host immune mechanisms to combat pathogens and apply this knowledge to develop innovative therapeutic strategies. She seeks to advance our understanding of host-pathogen interactions and contribute to developing innovative solutions for infectious diseases.
