Ana Gonzalez Ramos, PhD

Ana is a postdoctoral associate in Granger’s lab at the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard since February 2023. Here, she applies her skills in stem cell biology and electrophysiology to explore and dissect the neurobiological mechanisms and circuit alterations governing psychiatric disorders, with special emphasis on the complex interplay between neurons and non-neuronal cells.

Prior to joining the Stanley Center, Ana earned her Ph.D from Lund University (Sweden), under the supervision of Merab Kokaia, as a member of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network: Training4CRM, where she investigated novel therapeutic strategies targeting refractory epilepsy. Her research involved developing and testing cell and gene therapy approaches with the aim of increasing neuronal inhibition. She also graduated from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) with a BSc in biomedical sciences, and later she completed with distinction her MSc in Regenerative Medicine at the University of Edinburgh (United Kingdom).
