Jonathan has led software, data engineering, and operations teams in genomic data sharing for nearly a decade. The development and operation of these projects have served the needs of numerous governments, research programs, labs, and individual researchers - ultimately enabling them to do more powerful science, faster, without added concern for compliance. In this work, Jonathan and his colleagues built key products to storage, search, and access scientific data that continue to gain adoption from the groups mentioned above.
Publicly shareable products Jonathan has led that serve these data storage, search, and access needs include:
- DUOS - a Data Use Oversight System for institutions to manage search and access functions for their entire catalog of scientific data, for internal and external use of controlled and open access data.
- Terra Data Repository - A sophisticated data storage and sharing tool that allows for fine-grained sharing of data from a centralized perspective, without making serial copies.
- Through.Bio - A deep vertical search app that shows the links from a single publication to clinical trials and drug or device approvals.

In addition to these products, Jonathan has played an important role in the development of the Terra analysis platform, particularly its data management and access (authentication and authorization) frameworks. Outside the Broad he as also served as the VP of Product for startups, leading products for custom data collection and validation tools to codify undocumented human languages, financial market data aggregation and visualization for investment firms, and multi-sided platforms for professional services providers and consumers.
