Frances is a Biological Engineering Ph.D. student at MIT co-mentored by Paul Blainey. She began her PhD in 2020 after earning her B.S. in Bioengineering: Biotechnology from UC San Diego. Frances’s research focuses on developing novel microfluidics-based single-cell mRNA sequencing methods to more easily profile transcriptomic changes following pooled perturbation screens.

Beyond the lab, she enjoys making pottery, crocheting, listening to podcasts, snuggling with her dog, and identifying spiders.
