Madhumita joined as the Scientific Advisor at Methods Development lab at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in 2025. She currently oversees various aspects of project management at MDL, including extramural grant applications, regulatory affairs, and strategic partnership engagements. Madhumita's previous experience includes serving as a Senior Principal Scientist at MelliCell Inc., a Boston-based biotech startup, where she led target discovery projects for obesity therapeutics using tissue-engineered fat cells. Before that, she was a Principal Investigator at the Center for Cardiovascular Research in Nationwide Children's Hospital. There, her work focused on understanding the gene-environment effect of maternal diabetes on fetal cardiovascular development, utilizing in vivo disease modeling and single-cell genomics approaches. She holds a PhD in Human Molecular Genetics and completed her postdoctoral research in Developmental Biology. Outside of scientific pursuits, Madhumita enjoys listening to audiobooks, nature photography, painting, and visiting lighthouses with her husband. |
