Group Leader

I am an Associate Professor and Group Leader at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research. I earned my PhD from the University of Kuopio (Finland) and completed a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge (UK). In 2015, I was a Visiting Scientist and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (New York). Currently, I lead an inter-disciplinary research group focused on the genomics of obesity and metabolic health. My goal is to advance our understanding of obesity-related cardiometabolic diseases by uncovering the mechanisms of action of genetic risk variants, particularly in adipose tissue.
