My background is in Biochemistry and Neuroscience. During my early biochemist days I worked in environmental biotechnology before shifting my focus to neuroscience and Alzheimer's disease in particular. I'm currently exploring the human genetic landscape of Alzheimer's disease and its association with cardiometabolic risk factors, thanks to a prestigious PhD fellowship from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

On a personal note, I'm Portuguese, hailing from the beautiful island of Madeira (look it up on the map, you won't regret it). The same place the almighty Cristiano Ronaldo was born. Just like him, I set big goals. Not to score goals, but to win the match against Alzheimer's disease. After all, who are we without our memories?
