Erkin Kurganov, Ph.D.

Research Scientist I

Erkin Kurganov is an electrophysiologist focusing on ion channel biophysics and physiology. Erkin earned his Ph.D. from SOKENDAI (The Graduate University for Advanced Studies) under the guidance of Prof. Makoto Tominaga in Japan. During his Ph.D. training, Erkin focused on temperature-evoked activation of TRP channels expressed in neurons in various mammals to better understand the gating mechanisms of ion channels under temperature stimulus. Currently, Erkin is involved in research on the role of voltage-gated Ca channels in schizophrenia and epilepsy.
