Nataliia Kozhemiako, Ph.D.

Nataliia’s academic background is in neurobiology and biomedical physiology.  During her Ph.D. studies at Simon Fraser University, Canada, she received extensive training in neuroimaging research using functional magnetic resonance imaging, magnetoencephalography, and electroencephalography (EEG). Her doctoral work was dedicated to investigating human resting-state networks and how they were altered in neurodevelopmental disorders with a particular focus on the effect of sex in such alterations. During postdoctoral training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Nataliia focused primarily on sleep data following extensive scientific reports of alterations in normal sleep patterns in multiple neuropsychiatric conditions.  Her current research interests include the comprehensive characterization of various aspects of sleep neurophysiology using large sleep EEG datasets in various neuropsychiatric populations (schizophrenia and neurodevelopmental disorders, in particular) with an ultimate goal to identify disorder-specific signatures that could underly disorder pathophysiology.
